Review: Keurig B60 Single-Cup Brewer

The Keurig B60 is neither the least nor the most expensive of the three Keurig single serve models available.

It falls right in the middle, and currently it’s the most popular of the three.

All Keurig brewers use the same basic brewing method, pushing hot water under pressure through the K-Cup and down into the cup or mug below.

The only real differences between the three models are the sizes of the water reservoirs, the different brew sizes available and the electronic controls.

The Keurig Special Edition B60 offers three different brew sizes.

You can choose 5.25-ounces which fills a cup.

Or 7.25-ounces which fills a regular coffee mug.

Or 9.25-ounces which fills a travel mug, but not an oversize one.

The water reservoir has a capacity of 48-ounces, so you can make quite a few cups before you have to refill it.

One other nice feature with the B60, which you don’t get with the B40, is that a small blue light flashes beneath the reservoir when the water level gets too low. (Better to be alerted by a soft, blue light than some awful buzzing sound.)

Also, you can pick one of two brew temperatures for the water – either 192F, which is the regular temperature or a cooler 187F if you prefer a slightly cooler brew.

As with all three Keurig one cup brewers, the principal benefits of the B60 are its simplicity, speed and cleanliness.

From the moment you turn the brewer on, it takes just three minutes to heat the water and make the first cup.

Once the brewer is on, it preheats the next batch of water automatically, so the second and third cups are brewed in under a minute.

As for simplicity, all you ever have to do is keep water in the reservoir, add a K-Cup to the cup-holder under the lid, push the lid closed and press one button.

And for those of us who really don’t like cleaning up the mess after grinding coffee beans and throwing away wet filters, the B60 is wonderfully clean.

There is nothing to prepare before you brew, and afterwards you simply throw away the used K-Cup and occasionally wipe clean the removable stainless steel drip tray.

It’s really that easy.
